Single Tooth Replacement
Single Tooth Replacement in Vienna, VA
What is a single tooth replacement?
A dental implant is a titanium implant post placed into the jawbone where your tooth is missing. Once the implant heals, a replacement tooth, called a dental crown, is placed on it.
Single tooth replacements with dental implants are considered one of the best options to replace missing teeth because they look and feel just like your natural teeth. They also do not require the surrounding teeth to be altered, as with dental bridges. They are also fixed and do not require adhesive or attachments like full or partial dentures.
Dental implants are durable and strong and, with proper care, can last a lifetime!

Who would benefit most from a single dental implant placement?
Single tooth replacement is an excellent option for patients missing one or more teeth. There are many benefits to single tooth replacement, including:
- improves your overall oral health
- helps you chew and speak more effectively
- can last a lifetime with proper care
- can help prevent further tooth loss
Without proper treatment to replace a missing tooth, the surrounding teeth can shift out of place and further tooth loss or other oral health problems. Likewise, your remaining teeth can shift without implant treatment, leading to an increased risk of gum disease and tooth decay. You can also experience jawbone deterioration without dental implants.

If you do not have a general dentist, Dr. Dawood would be more than happy to refer you to someone whom he trusts.
Immediate Versus Delayed Implant Placement
In certain cases, once a tooth is taken out, an implant can be placed in the site immediatley without any delay. This is called immediate implant placement.Altough an immediate implant placement would be preferred, in some cases, it is not doable. This depends upon the amount of bone available, quality of available bone and presence or absence of infection and other co-morbidties.
