First Visit
The First Visit
Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons are highly experienced in wisdom teeth extraction, dental implants,, oral pathology, surgery for jaw and facial trauma, and more. We hope to make your experience as comfortable and smooth as possible from the initial consultation onward.
The Initial Consultation
When you visit our office for the first time, we will conduct a thorough consultation to assess your oral surgery needs. After reviewing your medical history and performing a physical examination, we will discuss your goals and concerns. Based on this evaluation, Dr. Dawood will develop a customized treatment plan for surgical care and examine all of your options with you.
Our goal is always to give you any information you need to make an informed decision about your oral surgery. In addition, we want you to feel confident and comfortable as you navigate the process, knowing that you are making the best decision for your health.

What To Bring With You
When you come for your consultation, please have a list of any medications you take, including dosage amounts. This includes prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. We will also need to review any medical conditions you have been diagnosed with and any allergies.
If you have previously had any surgery, it can also be helpful to bring a copy of your medical records. If you have been referred to our practice by your dentist, please bring a referral slip. Lastly, please bring your insurance information so we can help you verify your coverage.
X-Rays and Other Tests
When you come to our office for the first time, we will likely take x-rays and perform other tests to assess the condition of your mouth and teeth. Images are crucial for oral surgeons to determine the best course of treatment. X-rays can show any problems with your teeth or jawbone and help identify any areas of concern.Unless you have the correct, clear , uptodate imaging, it is likely that we will need to take Xrays in our office.
Other tests, such as a CT scan, may also be required. These tests help provide a more detailed picture of your mouth so the surgeon can make an accurate diagnosis and plan appropriate treatments. After all the tests have been conducted, Dr. Dawood can recommend the best treatment plan for you.
HIV/Hepatitis B or C Testing
As a patient, please be advised that in accordance with Section 32.1-45.1 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, that if the provision of health care services to the patient exposes any person employed by or under the direction and control of this facility or any other healthcare provider, to the patient’s body fluids in a manner which may transmit immunodeficiency virus or HIV or Hepatitis B or C viruses, then the patient will be deemed to have consented to testing for infection with HIV or Hepatitis B or C viruses, and the release of such test results to the person(s) exposed.

Payment Options
The price of services will vary depending on the procedures required for treatment. We understand that the surgery cost is a concern for many of our patients, but rest assured that our team will work with you to verify your insurance coverage and copay responsibilities.
